The Department for Education has launched a consultation on the revised Sure Start Children’s Centres Statutory Guidance.

The guidance sets out what local authorities and their statutory partners (Jobcentre Plus and commissioners of local health services) are required to do by law in their delivery of children’s centres. It provides greater clarification for local authorities, particularly in reference to the children’s centre sufficiency duty and duties relevant to the core purpose of children’s centres.

The revised statutory guidance also fully reflects the Coalition Government’s commitment to reform children’s centres, in particular their key role in supporting families in greatest need and on the outcomes they should seek to achieve.

You can find out more about the consultation and how to respond on the Department for Education’s website.
