The DfE is seeking views on proposed subject content for revised mathematics and English functional skills. Since April 2017, those taking Level 3 Early Years Educator qualifications can have Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English instead of GCSEs at grade C or above, a move largely welcomed by the sector.
We would urge the sector to engage with the consultation to ensure that any changes made to the functional skills help enhance their relevance and credibility.
