Are you a family carer for a child aged 18 months-5 years who has a learning disability (also sometimes referred to as developmental delay or intellectual disability)?

If so, you might be interested in taking part in some new research.

Early Positive Approaches to Support (E-PAtS): A Feasibility study

E-PAtS is group intervention for families that is 8 sessions long. The groups provide sensitive support and information for families in the early years, and are facilitated by a family caregiver with an experienced professional. The sessions include:

  • Accessing services and supports
  • Emotional wellbeing and resilience for caregivers
  • Supporting sleep for children
  • Supporting interaction and communication in children
  • Supporting skills development
  • Positive approaches to problem behaviours

We want to find out if E-PAtS helps parents of children with a learning disability. To do this, we will invite participating families to take part in E-PAtS either immediately or after 12 months, and to answer questionnaires on 3 occasions up to 12 months.

If you would like to find out more about how you can take part please contact Annabel Carter (tel: 01227 827329 or email: A.S.Carter-46@kent.ac.uk)
