Dear all,

You will be aware that BEIS announced the Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) last month, which runs from 1 October 2022 to 1 March 2023.

A review of the scheme was also announced, which will to be published after 3 months to inform decisions on future support after March 2023. The review will determine which types of non-domestic customer are vulnerable and need support and how to support them with energy bills after April 2023.

A critical part of this review is gathering direct information from non-domestic customers themselves. BEIS has devised and is circulating a questionnaire that can be found here.

This is an opportunity to ensure that the Early Years Sector is represented and understood in the review. Please distribute this link to your members at your earliest convenience and invite them to provide data that will help deepen understanding of their experience of energy price fluctuations and their vulnerability in future.

This questionnaire includes questions on a range of topics, including energy costs and usage, other costs and expectations for the months ahead. Responses to this questionnaire will help inform and shape the review of the EBRS. We know that not all questions will be relevant or applicable to some organisations, however, please encourage your members to answer as many of the questions with as much information and detail as possible.

All of the data you provide will be treated as confidential and not shared outside of government. The questionnaire will close at 11:55pm on Sunday 30th October 2022.

This questionnaire is particularly designed for private sector organisations. We continue to work with HMT, BEIS and partner organisations to represent public sector organisations.

We appreciate that during this busy time there has been requests for information and various surveys to be completed and we are grateful for your continued engagement.

Kind regards,

Department for Education
